The biggest statue of Mao Zedong of the world.
Last October 30, a new world record has been beaten: the biggest statue of Mao Zedong has been raised in the campus of the University of Medicine of Chongqing.
This statue of 20.6 meters (37.4 m if one counts the pedestal) and 46 tons are melted in rustproof steel. The edification of this statue has created various of numerous and varied reactions among the Chinese. For some, MAO is always the symbol of the contemporary China. Since the events of the Olympic torchlight and the natural disasters linked this year, a current of nationalism emerges among the young Chinese. The Maoism that claims high and strong the sovereignty and the independence of the Chinese people again since then becomes the fashion at these patriots. On the other hand, the criticism on this statue are all as numerous, essentially on his  cost.
