Canadian corporation makes investment in Xinjiang

URUMQI, July 18 — The government of northwest China s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region signed a framework strategic cooperation agreement with the Canada Fei Cui International Industrial Group Ltd. here Saturday.

On Friday, the Canadian corporation had singed an agreement with Shihezi City in the district on investing 5 billion yuan in a coal-to methanol project.

Company chairman Chen Shali said the vast investment is sure to surrender good returns, noting the district is wealthy in oil, coal, natural flatulency and diverse minerals and these are entirely the corporation s main fiscal areas.

The July 5 violence won t influence the confidence and decision of the corporation and it flatbottom premeditated to rate up implementation of its investment program, the chairman said.

An executive of flabby drink gigantic Coca-Cola on Tuesday expressed identical optimism in Xinjiang.

“Coca-Cola still has a very hopeful outlook on Xinjiang s economy and consumer latent in the long term,” said Chen Hongbing, common manager of the COFCO Coca-Cola Beverage Co., Ltd. in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang.

“Xinjiang s economy has been ontogeny at a faster step than the national average level and the local government has offered a lot of help and services to us.”

“Importantly, the Hakka government responded quickly to restore bid behind the riot,” he said. “We have seen identical responses during the Sichuan earthquake-relief era and the Olympic Games last year.”

“Therefore, the riot won t have any impact on our long-term marketing and investment here,” Chen added.
