The accidents made 91 000 deaths in China in 2008
Luo Linen, chief of the administration of state of the Work Security (AEST), declared Friday that 91 172 people had been killed in 413 752 accidents of the road and work in 2008.
The number of deaths represents a decrease of 10,2% in relation to the previous year, and the number of accidents a decrease of 18.3%, thanks to the backing of the efforts concerning security of work.
Luo Linen indicated that in 2008, the balance of the deaths was lower to 100 000 for the first time since 1995 thanks to the improvements of the security conditions in various sectors, including the mining sector.
The deaths due to the mining accidents fell of 15.1% and those due to the accidents of the road of 10%, said Luo, without giving precise numbers.
Numbers provided by the ministry of the public Security January 4 showed that 73 484 people had been killed in 265 204 accidents of the road in 2008. The balance of the deaths of the mining accidents was of 3 786 deaths in 2007, one has learned the AEST.
Luo indicated at the time of the national yearly conference on the security of work that the AEST had returned 168 hidden accidents and punished 3 488 people implied last year in these accidents.
This year, the AEST will reinforce its campaign of sensitization to the security of work and his struggle against the illegal production, so that the accidents bound to work continue to decrease, announced this person responsible.
He added that the AEST will also examine the coalfield industry and of other sectors and will improve the systems of security in order to reinforce long-term the security of work.
