I had a pretty good deal DC to China for 1070 but it sold out before I bought them. What is the best way to get tickets, I'll be going in early June. Travel agency? Searching online? Should I wait to buy or buy now? (early June is only about a month and a half from now)

June is a pretty expensive time to fly as families start to travel once school is out. Have you looked at United Airlines? Another way to go is to see if there is an Asian travel agency where you live. Sometimes they get discounts from the airlines because they sell a lot of tickets. They then pass along the discount to their customers.
