The Chinese lawyers seize the French justice against the sale of relics of the summer Palace
The Chinese lawyers started a procedure owing a French court to make order Christie’s home to withdraw an auction two pieces made of bronze, of national historic interest, robbed in China, declared Friday these lawyers.
A deposit of complaint has been presented Thursday evening owing a court of Paris, four days before the bids foreseen from the 23 at 25 in Paris, revealed Liu Yang, chief of a group of about 90 lawyers.
Bernard Gomez, president of the association for the Protection of the Chinese arts in Europe (APACE), accepted to be the guarantor of the property of the two bronze heads – a head of rabbit and another of rat, he has said.
The relics of the Dynasty of the Qings (1644-1911) decorated the former palace of imperial summer of Yuanmingyuan. They have been flown when the palace has been robbed and burnt by the franco-British troops during the Second war of the opium in 1860.
The two heads belong currently to the Foundation Yves Saint Laurent and have been put on sale by his mate Pierre Bergé.
"If we don’t succeed in having a legal decision in our favor, we will participate in the bids and will decide after the continuation of the évènements", pursued Liu Yang.
The lawyers wrote Christie’s home last week to ask him to withdraw the sale the two bronzes and they consider dragging Pierre Bergé in justice if the Christie’s house put them to the bids. But Christie’s answered that she maintained the sale as foreseen.
According to the person responsible of the public relations of Christie’s in China, Mrs. Chen Yan, the returns coming from all articles of Yves’ collection Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé will be used to ends caritatives.
All objects, including the two sculptures made of bronze, possess the legal documents proving the whole legality of their possession, she/it has explained.
The specialists expect what the two bronze heads sell themselves of 8 to 10 millions euros each (about 10,4 to 13 millions dollars).
Liu Yang revealed that the "Global Aixinjueluo Family Clan", an association recorded to Hong Kong, had accepted to carry itself/themselves private party. Aixinjueluo is the cliquish name of the emperors of the Dynasty of the Qings.
According to a communiqué of the administration of the former Palace of summer, the Yuanmingyuan, these relics of historic interest have been flown and must be returned to China that is an owner incontestably of it.
