The children of SOS Village of Beijing (Peking), the tenth of the kind in China, will open his doors in next July, announced Friday in Beijing the promoter of this project.
The village, sponsored jointly by the government of Beijing and the Association of SOS Children Villages, will shelter 120 orphans aged of 4 to 12 years, selected by the offices of the civil business of Beijing and other parts of the country, indicated Cai Jie, attaches the director of SOS Village children of China.
The establishment will be in the district of Daxing and will consist of 15 buildings of two floors for 15 "families." The village will hire 15 of unmarried women aged 25 to 35 years as professional "mothers" for six to eight children in every family "until they become adult, according to Mr Cai.
The government of Beijing spent close to 16 million yuan (2.3 million of dollars) to acquire this land. The construction of this establishment has been paid by the association of SOS children, that offered 29 millions of yuan. She will also pay for the expenses of life of these orphans, according to Mr Cai.
Nine Villages of SOS children already exist in China since 1984, in particular in Tianjin, Qiqihar, Chengdu, Urumqi and Lhasa. They welcome more than 1 400 orphans.
The projects of SOS Villages of children began in Austria during World War II. More than 400 villages have been founded in more of 130 countries and regions.
