China exports less shoes during the first five months 2008
China sold less shoes during the first five months of this year, because of the reduction of the repayment of the export taxes, of the continuous appreciation of the RMB (Chinese currency), of the weakness of the demand of the United States and the commercial gates as the judicial pursuits on the antidumping, declared Friday the general administration of the customs.
Of January to May, China exported 3.39 billions of pairs of shoes, decreasing of 3.6% in relation to the same period of last year. One is far from the 11.1% of growth recorded between January and May 2007.
On the other hand, the value of the exports increased 11.5% to reach 10.22 billion dollars, whereas the middle price progressed of 15.8%, reaching three dollars by pair.
Among the exports, 51.2% either 1.74 billion of pairs, have been sold by private enterprises, decreasing of 1.8%.
The exports of shoes in the United States decreased from 4.5% to 880 millions pairs, either 26% of the total, whereas the exports toward the European union increased 6.8% to reach 640 millions of pairs, either 18.9% of the total.
