The preparations to welcome the Shanghai Center began August 17, 2008 and the construction of the skyscraper since end 2008. The term of the construction pure fixed originally in 2010 on the occasion of the world fair has been Revalued to 2014.

The Z3-2 area which is constructed on the Shanghai Center was initially a golf course.
The Shanghai Center should become the new emblem of the city and should be one of the biggest skyscraper of the world.
