Thailand has unveiled its Expo 2010 pavilion mascot “Tai” – a cute, friendly and cheerful child-giant.

The invent of the mascot was inspired by the mythical gigantic Indrajit , a traditional iconic device with a fierce stare who stands sentinel at temple entrances.

The World Expo version, however, is a cute child-giant who beams with friendliness, cheerfulness and courtesy, which is the feature of the Thai people.

The mascot is called “Tai,” which manner liberty and independence in Thai, or grand in Chinese.

Tai will greet visitors at the pavilion with his cheerful and genuine smile, just like the friendly clientele of Thailand do.

Tai s skin is green – the color signifying a fertile land – and his large around eyes mirror kindness and compassion, the moral qualities of a halcyon Thai.

The large cane he holds is a magical wand that may morph into mighty weapons or genies that would bring roughly victory or fulfillment of wishes.
