Rehousing of 27 000 inhabitants of the Henan facing the project of derivation of south-north water

The Rehousing of about 27 000 inhabitants of the downtown of Jiaozuo, in the Henan province of the (center), began this week to make up northwards to the Chinese project of derivation of water of the south, announced Friday the provincial office of the project .

The construction of the main channel of the central road should begin end of September, when the Rehousing will be finished.

The project will join the streams Yangtze, Huaihe, Yellow and Haihe. He will count three channels: eastern, central and western.

The construction of the eastern channel started in December 2002, and the first phase of the central channel has been started one year later.

The central road will cross the the provinces of Hubei, Henan and the the Hebei, as well as the townships of Tianjin and Beijing. About 402 000 people should be rehoused to make place to the project.

The city of Jiaozuo, with a population of intramural 870 000 inhabitants, is the only city whose center will be directly crossed by the central channel of the project.

Wang Shushan, chief of the office of the project of derivation of the water of Henan, indicated that the Rehousing would take into account the wishes and the opinions of the inhabitants. A new residential area will be constructed, it has added.

The first phase of the eastern channel should begin to provide water in 2013, whereas the central channel will be operational in 2014.
