March 28, "Day of the emancipation of the serfs" to the Tibet

The Tibetan legislators proposed to fix March 28 of every year as "Day of the emancipation of the serfs" to commemorate the emancipation of millions of the serfs in this region 50 years ago.
This project of law has been submitted Friday to the votes by a few 400 legislators at the time of the 2nd yearly session of the 9th regional popular Assembly of Tibet.
Approved once, this project of law will allow the whole Chinese nation and the Tibetans in particular to remember history, according to Legqog, president of the permanent Committee of the regional popular assembly of Tibet.
He should be approved at the end of the session, that holds from January 14 to 19.
The serfs and the slaves of Tibet have been freed 50 years ago when the Chinese central government foiled an armed rebellion led by the dalaï-lama and his aristocratic partisans sustained by some western powers.
A democratic reform has been begun then in Tibet to put an end to the feudal serfdom and to abolish the social hierarchy characterized by a theocracy with the dalaï-lama in the center of the power.
Legqog estimated that the "Day of the emancipation of the serfs" would reinforce the patriotism of the Tibetans and would denounce the clique of the dalaï-lama.
"During these last five decades, the politics, the economy and the culture of Tibet knew big changes…… the former serfs became masters of the new socialist Tibet", declared Legqog, that, 65 years, is descended of a family of serfs.
According to him, the dalaï-lama and his partisans never stopped leading activities of sabotage and tempted to "hinder by all means the development of Tibet" in order to restore the feudal serfdom.
The year 2009 will be staked out by the 50 birthday of the democratic reform of the autonomous Region of Tibet among other historic events.
The Chinese central government declared March 28, 1959 the dissolution of the aristocratic government of Tibet while replacing it by the preparatory Committee for the autonomous Region of Tibet as local government.
