Aussie mascot - now for a name
The Australia Pavilion judging panel has shortlisted fivesome names behind assessing entirely of the entries submitted to its highly popular "Name the Mascot Competition," and is now entreaty Hakka residents to vote for their favorite.
Peter Tesch, the commissioner-general for the Australia Pavilion said that "With over 2,800 names suggested for our kookaburra mascot, it is plain that this contest has ignited a sparkle of fancy in the minds of the Hakka public."
He said they are impressed by the properity of the proposed names and have narrowed the extensive list down to fivesome favorites. "We are now entreaty residents of China, who will get to know our kookaburra well during the Shanghai World Expo, to make the final decision."
The shortlisted names have been uploaded to the Shanghai World Expo segment of Sina.com and visitors will have two weeks to vote.
The last fivesome entries are Yangyang, Xiangxiang, Pengpeng, Chenchen and Liangliang. Among them, Yangyang reflects a clever future of Sino-Australian future evolution and friendship, whereas Pengpeng in Hakka manner kookaburra flying to Shanghai to make friends with the Chinese. Chenchen represents the zealous and friendly Aussie people.
All voters have the occasion to go into the draw to win one of 20 exclusive Australian mascot T-shirts.
The winning entry will receive a substantial award package, featuring a week-long Australian holiday for three people, courtesy of Qantas Holidays. The award likewise includes a A$2,000 Access account, provided by ANZ, one of Australia s leading banks and a platinum sponsor of the Australia Pavilion.
