China closes 277 illegal internet sites in ten days
During the first ten days of a campaign of struggle of one month against pornography on internet, China closed a total of 277 illegal sites because of their content and stopped about ten suspects accused of distributing "obscene" information.
In the setting of the efforts of the country to purify internet, this country aims different types of on line content, including the games for cell phone, the novels and the programs videos and audios.
Besides, the country punished 145 internet sites containing illegal advertisements for medicines bound to the sex and treated more than 200 business concerning games for cell phone and novels to the obscene content.
The ministry of the industry and the computerization asked all enterprises of telecommunications to reinforce the control on internet and to cooperate with the government in struggle.
A person responsible of the office of the special operation of struggle against the on line pornography declared that this time, struggle was not "an impulse", but that it would be followed by other measures.
The public distribution of pornography is illegal in China. The country already put to the index 50 internet sites, of which the Google search engines, Baidu and MSN China, that have been accused of distributing pornography and to be slow to withdraw the erotic elements of their sites.
Statistics of the Center of information of the Chinese internet network showed that the internauts of the country reached 298 millions in 2008, passing the United States to become the country with the biggest number of internauts in the world.
