Chinese wedding presents

gifts chinoisQuel is the traditional gift of the Chinese marriage… in fact, there are three answers to this question.

There is the first gift, the one that the fiancé’s family addresses to the fiancée’s family. There are the gifts that the guests offer to the bridegrooms then. And finally, there are the present that the bridegrooms offer their guests at the time of the marriage.

Once the terms of the marriage discussed, and the compatibility of the dates of respective births confirmed by a mediator, the family of the young man addresses the present to the family of the future bride. There are generally money, the jewelry, the cakes, the fine grocery store, wines and liqueurs. The gifts are addressed on one period of several days, and in the Chinese tradition, they must serve to the worship of the forebears.

The gifts of the guests for the bridegrooms are not as sophisticated. They generally receive the red envelopes that contain the cash on hand.
