Mongolia has always been a poor land that can’t grow or produce much of anything.
All the most ambitious and most resourceful Mongols have pillaged their way into China, Persia, Russia, and India and settled in those regions (they’ve confirmed central asian lineage through DNA testing).

There are a few important errors.
The Hans did push the XiongNu out for much of the Han Dynasty.
The Chinese did manage to suppress the northern Stepps nomads for some long span of time .
There was a long span called the North and South period when the northern people moved south and assimilation was particularily active.
The North Wei Dynasty north of the Huai water was founded by the XianBei, of northern nomadic origin under the heavy sway of the Han culture.

This series is made with much European tendency to sensationalize Chinese clanishness. The title itself is misleading. The producer equates the Mongols with all nomads from the north.
One should ask if the Vikings wanted “equality” and “equality in trade” with the Romans and more the Romanized (civilized) Germanic peoples. Did the Romans and other Romanize Germans feel a sense of cultural superiority over the barbaric Vkings or Huns.
Eventually assimilation takes place.

These videos are alright. Nicely done, except for a few silly costumes, including those for the Xiongnu. Then again, we really don’t know exactly how they looked. They have since perished over the centuries. We do know that some Xiongnu nobles wore Han Chinese silk, though.
